It has been wet and windy for the last two days – at least the rain is good for the garden, I suppose! I have been very busy teaching, as usual – hence the lack of entries lately. We have seen at least one large flock of Redwings (one flock twice or two different flocks) circling, landing and then circling again – perhaps they are grouping together ready for the flight back to their breeding grounds in Scandinavia.

A damp and dreary day was brightened by the sight of a roe deer as we opened the shutters this morning. We usually visit our elderly neighbour, Marie, each day for coffee and to catch up on the latest news. She informed us today that the local bar's new owners have arrived. We have, therefore, arranged to visit them tomorrow with our friends Dave and Helena in order to introduce ourselves and to do very necessary research for our gîte clients – it's a tough job, but has to be done!
